StormStock featured in Acura MDX “Storm Chaser” spec commercial

A new spec car commercial titled, Acura MDX “Storm Chaser” sourced all of its weather elements from StormStock. The spot was directed by Martin Lisius who shot both the commercial and weather elements.

 Tornadoes, lightning and extreme storm clouds shot on 4K, RED 6K and Super 35mm appear both full-screen and composited with the Acura product shots. The MDX SUV used for the shoot is the actual one owned by Lisius, and the vehicle he drove to film most of the weather content with. The spot represents the ultimate “truth in advertising” commercial.

 Production took place during May through July 2023 primarily in Texas and Colorado. Lisius and associate producer Kim George braved tornadoes, hail, blowing dust and 108F heat to produce the commercial which was recently selected to appear at the California International Shorts Festival later this month.
